Q: Where can we drop off our Safe Grad forms?
A: There is a Safe Grad mailbox at the Shaftesbury School office please drop fully completed forms there.

Q: How do we pay for our Safe Grad tickets?
A: Families who fundraised have received an email regarding their ticket cost. For everyone else, Safe Grad will cost $50.00 for Graduates, and each graduate can bring one guest for $90.00. Guests must be at least 16 years old and no older than 21 on June 28. Once your forms are fully filled out and handed in then ticket payment can be sent as an EFT payment to [email protected], or a cheque can be sent to Shaftesbury Parent Safe Grad Committee. Please put in the notes section who the Graduate is.
Q: Can parents attend the Safe Grad?
A: No. Only graduates who have also attended the Grad Dinner prior to the Safe Grad party can attend. Parents are welcome to volunteer.
Q: What happens at Safe Grad?
A: Parents have organized safe, fun events like a DJ, casino games, silent auction, photo stations, and 360 video to keep the grads entertained.
Q: How does the banding work for Safe Grad?
A: After the School Sponsored Dinner, grads and their guests will make their way over to the Safe Grad entrance. All grads & guests must bring their photo ID for check in. Only grad/guests that are over 18 and wearing a wristband from the check-in process may purchase alcoholic beverages.
Q; Can grads change or bring anything in?
A: No. RBC has a strict policy that does not allow for a change of clothes from the dinner to SG. Only a change of shoes is allowed. No backpacks are allowed. No outside liquor is allowed. Food and non-alcoholic beverages will be available and included.
Q: Can people leave and come back?
A: No re-entry will be allowed after leaving. If the grad leaves, then the guest must also leave and vice versa. Parent volunteers are also bound to this rule. No re-entry is allowed. Students wishing to smoke will be escorted by Parent Volunteers to the designated smoking area, during scheduled times. Students are not permitted to smoke without an escort.
Q: What happens if my child is sick or if something happens?
A: Volunteers are available to provide first aid only. In the event of an emergency, the parent/sponsor will be called and/or emergency services will be called. Respectful behaviour is expected from all participants. Parents/sponsors of any person acting inappropriately will be contacted to pick up and sign out the person.
Q; How does pick up work?
A: Only the designated pick-up person identified on the registration form will be allowed to sign out the grad/guest. The designated pic- up person must also provide government issued photo ID. Last check out is 3 am. Under no circumstances will anyone attending SG be allowed to walk home, ride with a friend, take a cab/Uber or drive a vehicle.
Q; Can Shaftesbury Highschool ISP students attend Safe Grad.
A: Yes, all 2023 Graduates of Shaftesbury High School can attend Safe Grad. All paperwork must be signed by the ISP Graduate and their host family parent/guardian.
Q: Can the same person pick up a Graduate and their guest? Even if they are both Graduates of Shaftesbury?
A: Yes, you are correct that the same driver who is over 22 years old & a responsible adult can pick up the Graduate and their guest. If both attendees are Graduates, please indicate on both sets of Safe Grad Forms who will be the pick up person.
Q: Can the graduate’s date attend only the dance portion of the evening and not the dinner portion?
A: We ask that all attendees of the Safe Grad, whether they are a Graduate or Guests attend the school-sponsored dinner & dance. We want to minimize the ability of any prolonged pre-drinking of any Safe Grad attendee. We also agreed with the school that we would have a policy of attendance at the School event to attend ours. We will confirm with the school that Dinner tickets were purchased before selling the Safe Grad tickets to any attendee.
Q: Do the rules apply to me about getting signed in and out of Safe Grad if the Graduate or Guest is over 18 years old?
A: Yes, this is a private event with policies that follow the Provincial Safe Grad protocols, and our event insurance requires certain policies to be in place. All attendees, regardless of age, must be signed in and out of the event by a parent/guardian who is over 22 years of age.
